This was a fun challenge: Directing a dozen commercials in about three hours.
The client’s creative team brought me copy for a whole series of commercials built around this ESPN motif, along with a challenge to produce the series on-time and on-budget.
We had access to a working TV studio at the end of their broadcast day, and a tight window with the crew working overtime on our behalf.
To make production as smooth as possible I produced all the motion graphics and (traditionally) post assets before shooting, loading them onto the on-set monitors so that my actors would be able to react to them naturally.
That way we were able to work quickly, finishing spot after spot at a breakneck pace and coming away with an entire campaign.
